Discover Sasso Di Sole at Wine Affairs: Tradition Meets Innovation in Montalcino

Wine Affairs, a premier wine distributor located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NY, is excited to introduce a new winery to our curated selection: Sasso Di Sole. This esteemed winery embodies the Terzuoli family's dedication to finding the perfect balance between innovation and the rich winemaking traditions of Montalcino.

At Sasso Di Sole, the winemaking process begins with a slow alcoholic fermentation using indigenous yeasts for over 20 days on the skins. After racking, the wine continues its journey in stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. Stepping into their cellar, one is greeted by the aroma of tradition. Large Slavonian oak casks, ranging from 35 to 50 hectoliters, age the wine for years, enriching it with complex aromas and flavors. This approach is aimed at preserving the fruit's integrity while imparting refinement and elegance to the wines.

The Terzuoli family has been committed to viticulture for generations, with a history dating back to the 17th century. Their philosophy, "Respect for the land is the only way to achieve good wine," reflects their hands-on management of grape production, vinification, and wine aging to ensure the highest quality in every bottle. Their vision is forward-looking while honoring their past, blending technological innovation with traditional practices to produce quality wines.

Sasso Di Sole's vineyards, ten hectares entirely planted with Sangiovese Grosso, are located in the Northeast part of Montalcino within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Val d'Orcia. The vineyards, named Piaggione, Bosco, Borghetto, Frutti, Cantina, Pentagono, and Casa, sit at altitudes between 280 and 320 meters above sea level with South/South-West exposure. The medium-textured soils of Pliocene origin, rich in skeletal material, provide structured wines suitable for long aging. Meticulous green selection during the ripening phase and careful manual harvesting ensure the grapes' integrity, ripeness, and high quality.

We are also focused on expanding our partnerships with wine distributors who value organic and sustainable winemaking practices. Furthermore, we are continually seeking passionate wine professionals and salespeople to join our team. If you are interested in a rewarding career in wine distribution or are seeking a personalized wine consultation, we encourage you to reach out to us at wineaffairsnyc.com
