At Wine Affairs, your trusted wine distributor located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, we are delighted to showcase the exceptional 18 Chardonnay from Viña de Aguirre, Terra Bendita . This estate-bottled wine hails from the renowned D.O. Valle Central region of Chile, specifically from our vineyards in Villa Alegre, located 285 km south of Santiago.
Vineyards and Terroir
The Maule Valley enjoys a Mediterranean-like climate with winter rains and dry summers, creating an ideal environment for growing high-quality Chardonnay grapes. The region's unique terroir features a marked temperature range between day and night, allowing the grapes to develop ripe tannins, excellent aromas, and rich color concentration. The soils are a combination of sand and volcanic ash, complemented by flat terrain that provides superb sunlight exposure.
Vinification Process
The Chardonnay grapes for 18 Chardonnay are harvested early in the morning in mid-March to preserve their freshness. The fermentation process utilizes low pressure and occurs in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast at temperatures ranging from 12°C to 14°C over a twenty-day period. This careful approach allows for the extraction of varietal aromas. Prior to bottling, the wine is meticulously stabilized and filtered to maintain its vibrant fruit character .
Tasting Notes and Pairing Suggestions
The resulting wine exhibits a medium lemon yellow color, with prominent aromas of pineapple and ripe peach. On the palate, it is well-balanced, delivering flavors reminiscent of tropical fruits, a refreshing structure, and a delightful finish. This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including appetizers, green salads, seafood, poultry, and young cheeses, making it a versatile choice for any occasion .
